We are now in the realm of the Andean Spectacled Bear. Along the way we also find out about the properties of the forest plants which the local people have used for hundreds of years as natural cures and medicine. Lunch back at the lodge. In the afernoon a visit to the local waterfall offers a great opportunity for a refreshing dip, and for those that are interested there is the possibility of joining in with a cooking activity. Learn how to prepare homemade muesli or quimbolitos working alongside the lodge's talented kitchen staff.
Dinner & overnight in Maquipucuna Lodge.

Day 7     Local School & return to Quito
Today we visit Marianitas, Maquipucuna Lodge's nearest village. As we walk to the village we pass Maquipucuna's pretty organic garden, and make a stop off to learn about the different fruits and vegetables grown here, which are then used to prepare the dishes served to visitors. We can also see how the lodge's coffee beans are sorted and dried before being toasted. In the village of Marianitas we are invited into the local school to share some time with the local children and teachers. A game of football is normally on the cards, be prepared to lose! After lunch we return journey to Quito, where on arrival, the tour ends. Please let us know if you would like us to take care of your Quito hotel reservations and airport transfers, it would be our pleasure.
